Absa not assisting me with car rental after accident
I had an incident on 5th May 2026 where my ford everest slipped on the wet road and hit the curb. I contacted the activate app and got good response from them and had my car towed to Randburg renew it. I waited 2 weeks for them to inform me after i had been phoning non stop to find out what is wrong with the car. Eventually i got a mail stating that the repair was approved by the assessor. I then got a report to show me what was wrong with the car.. i discussed it with the service advisor at Randburg renew it for it was strange the only the rim was being replaced at the right rear side.
It took another 2 weeks to repair the car. I was informed that the car was ready last thursday and i went and collected the car and again discussed the issued about the rear right wheen with the advisor. Again they stated they did not find anything wrong.
I paid my R3000 excess and took the car, at security we found that my jack and tools was missing. They could not find my tools and jack.
I took the car back on Friday morning and the panel beater check the wheel and informed me that they will inspect the car. I then got Absa to extend the use if the Avis rental till Monday 08June. I was informed on Monday that the right rear shaft is damged and needs to be replaced.
Now the rental car must be returned and I have no means of transport. The panel beater will supply me with a car when they have one available. In the meantime i must return to rental and absa won't extend the usage of the rental car.
I feel that the Absa assessor did not evaluate the car correctly and now i am the one who has to pay for the rental car days and it is not my fault. I feel that Absa is at fault here and they must extend my car rental until i can get my car back.
I am not happy with the way my accident was handled from the start.
