ABSA Insure flatly reject claim after downpour disaster in the Western-Cape

We recently had water damage (of the ceilings and roof ) at our property in Somerset West with the rain downpour and floods that was published all over the news fairly recently. The residential property is relatively new (7 years) and never had any water leaks, prior to the heavy downpour. Even though the rain downpour was formally declared a disaster, ABSA Insure flatly rejected all claims, and came up with lame excuses such as " there was cement is the valleys of the roof" Being in the Western Cape we inspect the roof on a 6 monthly basis for issues such as cracked tiles and obstacles.

We are also aware of other similar claims that was rejected, so ABSA Insure is surely damaging their reputation very badly

We would strongly advise to avoid ABSA Insure and their PSG brokers. The broker only plays the 'good-cop' role in this scenario, and didn't care any further.

Once the issue is settled, either way, with ombudsman (NFO), I will remove all our property insurances away from ABSA.
