ABSA INSURANCE REJECTS CLAIM
ABSA Insurance: Claim rejected after excessive hailstorm in Da****rt Pretoria 30 Nov 2025 just BEFORE 24:00. On Sunday night of 30 Nov 2025 we experienced a HAIL storm, i am highlighting this based on ABSA's response to us. Hail was 30cm thick, on the grass only, the following morning, BUT in the morning after the hail storm on 1 Dec 2025 the hail was lying on the rooftop. We have a flat roof. The HAIL became too heavy and collapsed onto the ceilings, and then the ceilings collapsed. Water and hail was pouring through the ceilings. Water and hail was submerging from underneath our back door where the kitchen is.
I have photo's and video evidence of all of this.
ABSA's assessor was here on the 1st of December 2025. Not even all photos were taken of broken windows, kitchen cupboard damages, just here and there inside the house and then of course the famous roof! We had resealed the roof in July 2025. So the roof was not leaking at all. (I have proof and videos the hail and rain we had afterwards, that the roof is not leaking at all!) It was just not yet painted. ABSA wanted to refund us R10k for the kitchen cupboards and all the 8 windows that broke. My kitchen cupboard of which the ceilings fell onto and the water damaged is R22k alone(on a quote that I submitted) ABSA then went ahead and rejected IN the same claim the roof and said it was maintenance. Of which you can see visible proof that the roof was maintained recently. We objected and then the committee sat on the objection on the 15th of Jan 2026, submitting to us that they stick to their original decision of rejection. Maintenance and water damage! So what is hail then?
Then they added to their rejection, they are not going to refund the wall that fell over? What wall???? They cant even give us what their calculations on the R10k they want to reimburse us is based on.
We have been clients with ABSA for over 30 years and this is the type of service we get! ALSO they are increasing home owners building values to increase on premiums. Our house was valued at R3.8m?
And according to the insurance policy we live in an asbestos house. Out total damages add up to R250k, why do I have insurance then? We haven't claim in like 15years i think! ABSA shame on you! I think the system randomly selects the lowest claims and pay those out.
ABSA doesn't care about long existing clients like us. Our claim number Claim number: ***. And please don't come with we will send this back for review if your are going to give me the same standard letter, I think you issue to all rejected claims, and just forgot to take out the wall in our letter!
