Absa Insurance in shambles
Absa lack of communication when it comes to insurance is astounding. I booked an insurance claim (***) for a geyser and retro fit solar on Monday, 20 September. As per usual, they said the plumber will be calling me. On Tuesday I called Absa again and advised them that despite staying in George for 15 years, have never heard of the plumbing company they instructed. After this, the plumber called me saying they will only be able to come late afternoon which I was already committed for. They booked to come first thing Wednesday morning. As we stay in a rural area, I asked that they call for directions. On Wednesday at 09h00 I called Absa again as I have not heard anything from the plumber. The plumbers called shortly after and arrived. When I asked the plumbers about the solar, it was clear they did not know solar, yet was send out to for this spesific job. They left in a hurry, saying they will log a report on the system. By Thursday 13h00 (knowing that Friday is a public holiday) I called Absa again. The first operator bluntly stated that she could not find me on the system and thus I was not a client of Absa before directing my call to a number that does not pick up. I called again and got hold of Tumi which did find that I was indeed a customer from Absa. When she checked the report, the plumber declined to do the job stating it was on an asbestos roof. Tumi said Absa will be paying me out. In all of this, I have not received one call from Absa since the booking on Monday. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they are all in a meeting. I was promised her manager would call me back which still has not happened. Absa took my contributions, knowing the roof of the house and then wants to wash their hands of a claim. Any other insurer would have wrapped this up in 1-2 days with the relevant communication and feedback. Absa employees must think they have no competition will receive their salaries every month without them lifting a finger towards customer service. With this total lack of communication, zero customer service and not knowing what is happening a week later, why would anyone want to stay their customer?
