ABSA Insurance fails to repair damage 6 weeks later....

As a plus 30 year ABSA client am really disappointed in how ABSA Insurance handled my recent Homeowners Insurance claim. I live in the R=Eastern cape and had a geyser burst on the Wednesday 13 July 2022 and logged the call the same day. I got a call from a Jo'burg based plumber later that day saying they will arrange a plumber to come out, but they not yet sure when. I then phoned ABSA again an said they need to consider using a local plumber. Later when I phoned the plumber they said they have handed the job back to the claim handler.

The Thursday I phoned the insurance again, who then told me they appointed a local plumber from East London. Now I live in Sutterheim 80km from East London. Later that day I got a call from the plumbers in East London, who indicated they will come to me after finishing a Job in King Williams Town. t this stage I was panicking because had guests coming to my house on that same Friday at 5pm, and we did not have warm water now for more than 2 days.

The plumber assured me they will be their at 10am, they eventually arrived at 12pm, and finished the job only about 5:30pm, after having to cut a hole in my sealing to fit the new geyser into the roof. They also damaged the sealing by stepping on it.

I clearly indicated on the documentation the sealing has been damaged. I subsequently called ABSA insurance, just to learnt the call center is not even an ABSA company. They also informed me the ABSA claims department close at 3:30pm. I subsequently relogged the claim to get ABSA and to date they have not received any feedback.

What I find quite irritating is doe not confirm logging the claim via e-mail or SMS, and if you want a update you have to go through the whole call center experience, that eats at least 30min of my airtime per attempt.

I am now tired of trying to get hold of the ABSA Insurance claims department, and hope this Hello Peter complaint gets them to contact me.
