Absa Insurance complete disappointment

I placed a claim for a burst pipe a year ago. The kitchen cupboards are not completed as they informed me to wait until the rain season stops. All they had to do was paint the wall with paint sealant which my husband did himself as the contractor assigned by the Insurance company were spinning us a lot of BS. The contractor has immigrated to Taiwan and the ****her has retired. That is the first problem.

In April we had flooding around the KZN area and water was seeping through our walls and the roof was leaking. The Lapa had a collapsed roof as well and garage completely flooded. They came back saying they have no contractors in the KZN area therefor we must look for one. We found a local contractor who we completely trustworhy and we used him before for numerous jobs at my sisters house which is allocated just around the corner from our premises. Plus he's rates are the best, work is excellent and guaranteed.

We sent in a claim who Francis acted on promptly. Our claim was forwarded, declined and were informed telephonically that we can dispute it. We waited for 2 weeks and heard nothing so I contacted them via email. Received an email same day (whoo!!!) stating the rejection team will be in contact with me soon.

My point of this email is that the rain season is coming September and my claim has been rejected. I bought this property September 2022. We had problems with the rain when we just moved in and last year 2023 and in April of this year. I provided them with the immovable property list that the owner signed a year prior to the house being sold. My question is how did the assessor approve the loan for the house, because this is lack of maintenance on the previous owners side and why do we have take the brunt for it.

They don't even contact you and advise why the claim has been declined, who will call you to assist with your dispute, when will they call. Nothing

I have investments with ABSA plus I bank with them but their Insurance company is a total disappointment.

Dear Russell,

It is a shame that a client has to take extreme measures before they receive the assistance they required from the beginning.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
