ABSA Insurance claims - worst insurance company ever

In January 2026 we submitted a burst geyser claim with all the resultant damages: Upstairs Bedroom carpet, BIC, Skirtings, Vanity, Ceilings, Internal Door plus wooden flooring on the ground floor below as water ran down to the ground level as well. The claim form was submitted listing all the damages with photos and the repair quotes. ABSA insurance paid out for the geyser, yet we are still waiting for the resultant damages to be paid out or repaired! They only have approval for repair of the ceilings because they claim that the resultant damages were caused by a storm in December 2025. After much yelling, calling and emailing them, they advised two weeks ago that they had re-sent the resultant damages to the assessor. I ask you with tears in my eyes, if the damages had been caused by the storm in 2025 would we not have claimed for it then??? ABSA Insurance is the absolute WORST company to deal with, the staff seem to have no concept of what happens to all that water (150-200L) when a geyser bursts and there seems to be no SUPERVISORS or MANAGERS getting involved to resolve issues! Absolutely shocking!
