Absa idirect Insurance

On 22 December 2022 there was a severe hailstorm causing damage to my property.

The damage was as follows:

-3 skylights were broken; -the electric fence was damaged; and -approximately 80m2 IBR roof sheeting was damaged.

After a lapse of 4 months, during which time I continuously endeavored to follow up progress with ABSA, and being completely ignored during this time, and receiving no response from ABSA Home Insurance, I in desperation resorted to lodging a complaint with the Short Term Insurance Ombudsman. To my surprise I received a call the very next morning. Since then, only the electric fence was repaired. After the lapse of a further 2 weeks, I am in the desperate position once again being completely ignored. No further progress since then!!! The skylights remain broken with the damage to the interior ceilings worsening. The claim i.r.o. the IBR roofing was rejected without furnishing any reasons despite numerous attempts from myself to obtain answers.

I am disgusted and utterly disappointed with the manner in which I am being treated. I have diligently been paying my yearly subscriptions and in return I am being ignored. My insurance experience with ABSA has to date been horrific and I have been diligently paying my premiums without receiving anything in return. I am most definitely not being treated as a valued customer but rather being treated as dirt.

I am fed-up and currently in utter desperation I am now obtaining my own quotations to have the damage repaired to my property (IN LIEU OF WHICH I HAVE PAID PREMUIMS TO ABSA TO HAVE SAME REPAIRED IN THE EVENT OF DAMAGE FOR THE PAST 17 YEARS !!!) I intend on seeking legal assistance issuing summons against ABSA for the recovery of my damages suffered and, in the alternative, repayment of my yearly premiums since the last incident approximately 12 years ago.
