ABSA i'Direct Insurance

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the insurance company ABSA iDirect, which I consider the most *********** of the decade. My coverage commenced on June 1st. However, my account was debited on May 31st and then again with the first installment on June 1st.

Despite being transferred to three different consultants and spending 45 minutes on the phone, no one was able to assist me. This occurred on two separate occasions. Frustrated, I decided to cancel my policy, which took no more than three minutes.

While the cancellation process was swift, the service regarding reversing the undue debit order was nonexistent. A consultant informed me that my pro-rata refund would be reflected in my account within 7-14 days. Fourteen days have passed, and I have not received the refund. Upon inquiring again, I experienced the same runaround, being transferred to three consultants and spending an hour on the phone with no resolution.

The latest response I received was, "I can't get hold of finance. I will send them an email and call you back when they respond." This level of service is, to say the least, pathetic. Consequently, I have decided to close my account with ABSA and sever all ties with such an inept institution.

Thank you. It has just gone from bad to worse. The consultant just called me and confirmed that finance has rep**** her email stating that management has now approved my refund. However it will take another 5 working days to process the payment. This further proves my point

I have found my decision to terminate my policy to be justified. Despite canceling my policy, I am still awaiting my prorated refund. To my dismay, on July 1, 2024, ABSA once again deducted a debit order, even though the policy had been canceled. I am now forced to contest this erroneous deduction and wait indefinitely for ABSA to reverse the debit order. This situation reflects an unprecedented level of incompetence.
