ABSA HOMEOWNERS COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE, SUCKS

A heads up to anyone insured with Absa Homeowners Comprehensive Insurance. Please take the trouble to examine your policy very carefully regarding cover caused by burst water pipes or fittings. I have just had a claim rejected from a burst water pipe under my kitchen sink. The fitting between the pipe in the wall and the connection to my sink tap is apparently an angle valve (to the non plumbing fraternity) that burst, not covered in my policy? I was told by insurance agent, Boitumelo Lefiri that it was an accessory and not covered in my policy. My kitchen cabinets and floor are permanently damaged as a result of the flood, My wife and i were home on the morning of the flood and were able to limit the water from spreading to the rest of our home, thankfully. Please be warned that every sink/ basin/ cistern is connected with a elbow joint/ flexible pipe/ angle valve from the main water pipe in the wall to the taps etc. NOT COVERED IN YOUR ABSA HOMEOWNERS COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE Policy. .I have been insured with Absa Homeowners insurance for 43 years and have only ever claimed for a handful of geysers (normal wear and tear) They bring out the umbrella when the sun shines, nowhere to be seen when it rains. if anyone requires any further claim documents or photos, please email me on, *** or call me on ***. I would not recommend Absa Insurance to anyone, please check your policies very carefully. I never received any feedback regarding my claim until i called Absa Compliments or Complaints and the received a rejection to my claim. worded " The claim is rejected for the following reason(s): Cover is not provided for damages that are not sudden and unforeseen and where there is no insured peril established. The burst pipe was most definitely sudden and unforeseen. ABSA HOMEOWNERS COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE, "SUCKS"

Absolutely disgusted with the lip service from Absa. I have forwarded all correspondence to the ombudsman as a last resort.
