Absa car insurance

I’m honestly fed up with ABSA Insurance.

I was paying R1,684.05, then you increased it to R1,767.89. Now, after more than a year, you come back and say you’re “doing me a favour” by reducing it… back to R1,684.05? That’s not a favour — that’s just undoing your own increase.

So what exactly happened over the past year? Why am I paying the exact same amount again like nothing changed? That makes zero sense.

Premiums go up quickly when it suits you, but when it’s time to bring them down, suddenly there’s always an excuse. Inflation goes up — premiums go up. Inflation comes down — premiums stay the same. How is that fair?

And now I must wait until April 2027 for another review? For what? Another increase?

This doesn’t feel like a “service” — it feels like a one-sided system where the customer always loses.

At this point, I want real answers:

Why hasn’t my premium actually gone down after all this time? What are you even basing these reviews on? Or is lowering premiums just not something you actually do?

Because right now, this whole thing feels like a joke.

Good day Nthabiseng,I did receive the updated policy schedule reflecting the reduction to R1608.20, however I still need to express my dissatisfaction with how this matter has been handled. The issue is not only about the amount itself, but about the principle behind it. I was previously paying R1,684.05, then my premium was increased to R1,767.89. After more than a year, the “review” only brings it down close to what I was already paying before the increase. That does not feel like a meaningful review or benefit to a loyal customer.South Africa’s economy and inflation keep changing, and customers are constantly under financial pressure. From my side, it feels like premiums increase very quickly, but reductions are minimal and take far too long to happen. Waiting until another review cycle while costs continue rising is simply not reasonable.ABSA is known as a reliable insurer, which is why I stayed, but at this point it honestly feels like I am being taken advantage of instead of rewarded for loyalty. I need ABSA to seriously reconsider my premium and provide a more realistic reduction that reflects my history as a customer. If this is the best that can be offered, then I will unfortunately need to start looking at other insurers that can provide the same comprehensive cover with more affordable premiums and better customer value. It would be disappointing to move away from ABSA after being a customer, but I also need an insurance provider that makes financial sense.I would appreciate this matter being escalated and properly reviewed again instead of waiting for another yearly cycle.
