Identity unfair rules that discriminates their clients

Identity have really disappointed me in the non logical and inconsiderate rule they have made during this covid period and as a result, they have lost a very faithful and spending client in me. I went to Identity in Giyani where upon the security requesting me to sanitize my hands, I told her that I have my own sanitizer because I have suffered from a terrible reaction in the past because of some types of sanitizers burning my hands, in which I ended up in a Dr's room. Dr adviced my to carry my own that will be safe for my skin. The guard told me I am not allowed inside the shops if I do not use their own sanitizer. When I asked the store Manager named Vusi Ntimane about this he told me it is the rule from the head office. A very unfair and inconsiderate rule to clients like me. They must have had their reasons which are unknown to the clients of which that on its own is unfair. If you are going to tell me to put something on my hands that is unknown to me because mind you the bottle is not even labelled at all. I mean what gives identity a right to force me to put something that is inside of an unmarked bottle on my skin? And refusing me to enter the shops because I'm afraid my health could be jeopardised, that is the most inconsiderate rule I have ever had. What happens if the sanitizer(or whatever it is because truly speaking we do no know) you force to put on my hands burns me and lands me in an emergency room? Are you not going to say you are not responsible? Creating such rules that could potentially put the health of your clients in trouble is very selfish of you. It is also not smart to create enemies out of your trusted clients by literally chasing them away from your store. I for one have taken my money and spent it somewhere else where they don't have this lousy rule. Identity is the only store with this rule, I wonder what makes you so special. I'm writing this because I realized that this is a serious ************** and I need to speak up.

We wish to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

We acknowledge your frustration and immediately escalated your concerns to the relevant Executive Management and COVID compliance team.

We wish to advise that the strict protocols implemented by Identity are in accordance with all the relevant legislation and guidelines as issued by Government. The Regulations and Directions require us to provide hand sanitizer with a 70% alcohol content for the use of customers and staff entering our stores. As we are unable to ensure that a customer’s sanitizer meets this requirement, we, therefore, require all customers to use our in-store sanitizers as we have the relevant documentation from our approved suppliers which confirms that it meets such requirements.

Identity has ensured its strict adherence to these requirements as well as implementing extensive protocols which ensure the safety of both our customers and staff when in our stores. We, therefore, confirm that you were correctly advised the day of your visit. We do however wish to apologize for the manner in which you felt the Management attended to you on the day and hope that on your next visit we can meet or exceed your expectations.

Kind regards,

Identity Online team
