My husband's account was in arrears due to covid issues but I have made payment in full now through the bank details given on the Identity statement I received the other day. When the MBD phoned me, I told them that we had paid account and can even send them proof. They said it doesn't matter if I paid my account through Identity I still had to pay them because the payment I made doesn't count!!!!
This is ridiculous because on the statement that Identity sent me, it said I was in arrears of R869.70 and that I can pay it in store, eft or online so I paid it eft into Identity's account just like they asked, so how is that wrong?
I contacted Identity on Facebook and they said I should contact customer care on Monday, which I did, then they said I should contact accounts which I did. Then Truworths emailed me and said I should contact MBD. The payment is reflecting in Identity's account, they have received the amount they have asked for so why do I need to pay more money to MBD. If we weren't allowed to pay Identity (who the payment is actually owed to) then Identity shouldn't send statements saying the account is in arrears and that we should pay online, eft or at the store.
If this matter isn't sorted out and cleared, I will contact the Consumer Protection Watch. MBD constantly harassed us for the money and once we paid no one wants to assist us. This is really irritating as we don't have money, we are struggling due to work loss from Covid19 and when we do save up money and pay the account in full then we are asked to contact so many different people just for Identity to acknowledge the payment. We owed IDENTITY, we paid IDENTITY so why can't IDENTITY acknowledge payment. It's just common sense
