bad service

I really don't understand this receipt thing, I mean I bought a Jean at legit last year December and by mistake I lost the receipt but the Jean still has the price tag on it, I went to legit after the day I bought it to return it because it doesn't fit and they told me they need the receipt. I've been going to different branches and no one can help me now am stuck with a Jean that doesn't fit and cost R300. Section 20 of the consumer Act provides the consumer right to return goods and section 16 of the act provides the cooling off period in terms of this section identity has infringed by rights as a consumer and I was not notify of the express term that a receipt is required when returning goods.

Hello NbeE6,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and affording us the opportunity to respond.

We would like to advise you that our Returns Policy, which is visible on the reverse side of our dockets and can be accessed on our website at www.identity.co.za, states that Identity will allow you to return or exchange an item within 30 days from the date of purchase provided that the original invoice is presented on return as proof of purchase.

We acknowledge your frustration regarding this matter, but considering this was a cash purchase, and the fact that the receipt has been misplaced, we are unfortunately not able to assist you with the exchange of the jeans.

Our policy is in place in order to protect all our customers, and it is therefore imperative that such a policy is adhered to at all times. We regret you are not satisfied with the outcome of your query; however, we hope you understand our stance on this matter.

Should you require assistance with any other matter of concern, contact us on *** or send an e-mail to: *** and we will gladly assist you.

Kind regards,
Charmaine
