A Call for Change in Retailer's Credit Policies

I recently attempted to apply for credit using the online portal, only to have my application declined due to my credit score and ITC checks. because of having two prescribed accounts still on my profile, I was unable to qualify for the pay 3 option that would have helped me build my credit record. Disappointed, I emailed customer support suggesting the possibility of opening a secured account where I could put down a deposit of R1000 to be used as a credit limit. Unfortunately, this suggestion was also turned down.

I strongly believe that there must be a solution for me to access this account. The pay 3 option should at least be offered as it poses a low risk with potential benefits for both the retailer and myself. By allowing customers like me to pay 50% upfront, the cost of the items purchased would already be covered. I feel that there is a significant market gap in catering to individuals who can afford these accounts but are unable to access them due to stringent requirements.

If retailers were to consider lowering the requirements for payment schemes like the pay 3 option across all its stores, it could potentially tap into a market that other chains have failed to reach. Not only could this benefit customers like myself, but it could also lead to significant profits for the retailer. While I may not be a financial advisor, these thoughts and suggestions come from a place of genuine desire to access the benefits of the retailer's credit options. I hope that someone higher up can consider these ideas and offer a solution that works for everyone.
