Hyndai Wonderboom will extract from you every single cent from you that they can for needless "repairs"
Took my Hyundai i20 2010 model to Hyundai Wonderboom for a service and some minor repairs. I was informed later the same day that some problems were found, including a driveshaft leak that has (or could potentially) ruin my clutch which incidentally needs to be replaced as well. The total, excluding the cost for a service, amounts to more than R43 000. So after a few more conversations and being sent a quote that largely consists of difficult to decipher part numbers, I decided to get a second opinion.
So I take my vehicle and drive (very carefully because the vehicle is on the verge of collapse you see) to an outlet that specializes in these sorts of things. I get a call a few hours later and, get this, they find no mechanical problems. I kindly ask them to make sure that there are no mechanical problems, no driveshaft leaks, no clutch problems, nothing wrong with the suspension, and the brake disks and pads Hyundai wanted to completely replace. They call back, no problems whatsoever, not even the smallest indication of a leak.
So after paying only R1200 for some minor repairs (boot shocks, brake lights, etc..) they, probably sensing my skepticism, advise me to take my vehicle to Dekra to set my mind at ease.
So as I'm sitting here with a full report from Dekra, stating that they could not find a single problem with the vehicle, heed my warning: Do not take you're vehicle to Hyundai Wonderboom, they might just try to extract from you every single cent from you that they can for "repairs" that you don't need. In an industry where shady practices are not unheard of, Hyundai Wonderboom takes it to another level.
Disgusting.
