I would like to share the extremely disappointing experience I have had with Hyundai Eastrand following the purchase of a Renault Triber in March.
Only three days after taking delivery of the vehicle, it began making unusual noises, particularly when reversing. When I reported the issue, I was initially informed that a part was broken and required replacement. However, after being referred to Renault Boksburg for diagnostics, I was told that the noises were normal characteristics of the vehicle.
As the problem worsened, a second diagnostic assessment was conducted in May, which concluded that the clutch required replacement. A quotation was provided for the repairs. Hyundai Eastrand disputed this diagnosis and instead arranged for the vehicle to be taken to Renault Alberton, stating that they would "adjust the clutch." Surprisingly, on the same day, I was advised that no fault had been found and that the vehicle was operating normally.
Despite these assurances, the clutch-related issues continued until 8 June, when the vehicle could no longer reverse and displayed a "Check Engine" warning. Although I immediately reported the matter, the vehicle has still not been collected for assessment.
The vehicle is used for transporting school children, and throughout the numerous repairs and inspections, I was never offered a courtesy vehicle. I was repeatedly forced to make alternative transport arrangements at my own cost and inconvenience.
In addition, I have serious concerns regarding the sales process:
• Information provided telephonically differed from what was ultimately reflected in the contract.
• I was not informed that a tracking device had allegedly already been installed. After raising concerns, I was advised that a device was fitted, only for Matrix to later contact me to arrange a new installation.
• The vehicle had already exceeded 58,000 km at delivery. I was informed that the 60,000 km service would be covered under the service plan, yet when I presented the vehicle for servicing on 13 March, I was informed that the service was not covered.
• There have been repeated delays in communication, delayed provision of contractual documentation, delays in arranging services, and a general lack of transparency throughout the process.
The conflicting diagnostic reports, failure to properly address the vehicle defects, lack of disclosure regarding important information, and poor after-sales service have left me with little confidence in both the vehicle and the dealership.
I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received and believe Hyundai Eastrand has failed to meet the standards of professionalism, transparency, and customer care that consumers are entitled to expect.
