I recently experienced a horror story after buying a car from Hyundai Boksburg.

On September 28th, 2023, I received a call from a consultant at Hyundai Boksburg who was interested in selling me a car. At that moment, I was looking to trade in my 2016 i20 model for a more affordable option, preferably a KIA Picanto, as I was struggling to make the current payments. The consultant said he could help and asked me to send over my information, which I did.

He tried multiple times to obtain the car I requested, but the bank kept rejecting his loan applications due to the shortfall. Eventually, he suggested that I consider the Grand i10 2023 Motion, which would have the same monthly installment as my current i20. The advantage of this option is that the money would go towards a new car instead of a used one, and it's a 2023 model. After seeing the pictures, I fell in love with the car and agreed to the deal. However, that's when the problems began.

I visited the dealership to check out the car, but my sales consultant was not present to welcome me even though he know I was going to come. I had to wait for hours before he finally arrived. While waiting, I was informed that he had gone to collect my car from another dealership. Finally he arrived and at that moment the Manager, Mr. Eric Motha, suggested that I call my insurance company to sort out the insurance issues before signing the contract. I agreed to do so. They gave me a quotation for the car. However, I was given a new quotation for a different car, a grand i10 fluid color white, while I was on the phone. When I asked the sales consultant about this, he said that he had found another car at a cheaper price than the motion. This was great news for me, as I was looking for a cheaper car that I could afford. I proceeded to sign my contract in Ms. Janine Mackay's office.

I found out that Ms. Mackay was not truthful about the amount displayed on the contact, but I only realized this after receiving my contract from her a month after signing it. She had promised that I would receive it within 14 days of signing. Despite repeatedly calling and requesting my contract, I had no luck until I went to the dealership and demanded it. I now know that the reason she failed to send me the contract within the promised time was because she did not want me to see the hidden costs. The amount shown to me was R333,247.97, while the actual amount I am supposed to pay is R559271.00. As a result, Hyundai Boksburg placed me into more debt than I was originally in. When I spoke to the manager about this, he apologized but did not get back to me about resolving the issue.

Anyway, going back to the incident, after signing the contract, I requested to see the car. Ms. Mackay informed me that they were working on it in their garage and that I would see it as soon as they were done. It was getting late, and since I had to drive a long distance back home, I decided to leave.

I returned the next day, but my sales consultant was still not there. I waited until around 8:30 pm, when he finally arrived with the car. I was pleased with the car and requested to take it home with me, but the consultant said that I should pick it up the next day. I went back home in my old car, leaving the new one behind. The next day, he informed me that the car was not ready for collection and that he would let me know when it was. I agreed to wait for his call.

Later that day, at around 8:00 pm, he called me to inform me that he was coming to deliver the car. Finally, I thought! However, when he arrived with the car, I noticed that it was missing a few items such as the boot tray, wiper cap, spare key, and tow equipment. Furthermore, the car was not even serviced. The sales consultant assured me that he would sort everything out.

It was after a month since I purchased my car from Hyundai Boksburg that I found out that the dealership did not settle the 120. I called the dealership numerous times to request assistance, but my requests were ignored. Only after speaking to the manager, who I had to insist on speaking to, did they finally settle the car. However, this was only after I had to go through a lot of hassle. Even though the car has been settled, the dealership has not yet sorted out the issue of registering the car, and it has been almost three months now. Every time I called the manager, he would lie and say that they were working on it, but nothing was being done. Eventually, my partner visited the dealership and discovered that no one was working on my case, including the manager who had promised me that my issue was being dealt with. Now, my car is still not registered under my name, and I have not received the wiper cap and my spare key. The car has not been serviced either.

Since I bought my car at Hyundai Boksburg, I have been under a lot of stress, and I have even fallen sick because of it. Unfortunately, the dealership seems not to care at all. They take me as a fool and a nuisance, or maybe I am for trusting them too much. I regret the day I took that phone call from the sales consultant at Hyundai Boksburg. If you are reading this, please be careful when buying a car at Hyundai Boksburg!
