The horizon is broadening.....
As an English Educator without any Software Engineering experience, I decided to broaden my horizon and tackle something challenging in 2020. So, I researched online and discovered HyperionDev.
2 capstone projects (&counting) I am glad to say that I am happy with HyperionDev. I had no idea or clue about Software engineering and Web development but, after a few calls with Student support and the trials on their website, I settled for Software Engineering.
The support I am getting from my mentor is amazing, (I think he understands that I am a newby). Two skills that HyperionDev has equipped me with is time management and research. Tackling full-time work and part- time Software Engineering for a newby like me is really hard. The assignments force you to research within a minimum space of time and be tactful in booking calls with your mentor. I have really learnt a lot in this short period of time and I am geared to more research and work. My High school Maths comes in handy in most instances and that digging way back into concepts taught then, and applying them now has shown me that I was really good in Maths ( though I am only recognising that excellence now).
Changing course and tackling new challenges in life is what is needed sometimes for us to stay relevant, and the Computer Science industry offers such a platform for people like me.
So, all of you who thought a python was only a snake well, dive in, broaden your vocabulary, skills, knowledge and also build your character while you are at it.
In conclusion, my Software Engineering journey has been stressful yet fulfilling and I look forward to more stress and prosperity. Keep up the good work HyperionDev.
Best regards,
