I Would Happily Recommend HyperionDev to Anyone

I’ve had a fantastic experience with HyperionDev and would happily recommend them to anyone who is serious about learning to code. I started with their 3 month “Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp” on the 5th of November 2021. I sent in an enquiry on the https://www.hyperiondev.com/ website and was pleased to receive a call from one of their representatives shortly afterwards. The gentleman asked me about my expectations for the course and my prior experience with coding, if any. I felt that he did a good job in emphasizing that the course is challenging and would require serious work on my part. He made sure that my expectations were realistic and that I was not going into this unprepared.

The sign up and payment process was quick and easy through the website. When my starting date arrived, I was sent clear instructions via email for setting up my Dropbox folder, where all the course materials would be uploaded. I was also told how to join the Discord community and Forum for support.

While I had tinkered with building simple websites with HTML and CSS before this course, I was completely new to the more advanced concepts such as JavaScript. The nice thing about this course is that you get access to the first 15 “tasks/projects” right away. Each task document is provided as a PDF with the learning part of the lesson, followed by a task that requires you to implement what you’ve just learned in a practical way. For example, by building a webpage or answering questions about the topic you just learned about.

The lessons are very professionally written and lay out every new concept in a step by step way. Since you have the PDF document, you can go over it as many times as you need to and believe me, you will often need to! The lessons get more challenging as the course progresses, but each lesson builds on the previous one in a very logical way.

I found that this really helped me to understand the concepts, as you have to really grasp the concept in order to implement it in a way that works correctly. This means you can’t just skim through the information, which is a good thing! After completing each task, you click the “Review” button on your HyperionDev dashboard and then one of the HyperionDev team of mentors or reviewers will go into your Dropbox folder and review your task. Once they have reviewed it, they leave some feedback and give you a mark out of 100. I found the feedback to be very detailed and encouraging, which was lovely. If they discovered that you did something incorrectly or your website doesn’t work, then you receive guidelines for fixing or improving it. What I found great though, is that they don’t simply GIVE you the answer, they suggest ways to research it or hint at the correct direction, but they leave it up to you to figure it out. Nothing is handed to you on a silver platter!

The end result is that you are encouraged to find the answer yourself, and so you grow as a developer who is capable of solving your own problems as you will have to in the working world. This is much more helpful than simply being fed the answers with no effort.

Should you get stuck on a particular task, the support team is standing by to provide assistance. However, I would suggest that you don’t do what I did and waste days and days being stuck and frustrated on a particular task. If you find that you are not making progress after a few days, rather reach out for help. It’s doesn’t make sense to fall behind just because you think you have to solve everything yourself. You have paid for this course and the support is a huge part of the service. I found the support staff to be friendly and patient, even when I was at my wits end with a problem!

Overall, I would be more than happy to recommend HyperionDev bootcamps to anyone who is interested in becoming a developer. I have had the best time and I am confident that I’ll be well served with the skills that I have learned when it comes time to use them in the working world.
