HyperionDev: the fruits of your labour

I hope this review will give some clarity to others who are trying to decide whether to start their bootcamp with HyperionDev or not.

I started the Full Immersive Bootcamp early May 2021. It is necessary to mention that I have some prior coding experience, not from any institution, but from my own self-learning in 2020 via Youtube tutorials etc...

The advantage this gives me is not only in skills but MOSTLY in mindset. Learning to code proficiently requires a good amount of discipline. In other words, how competent you become in coding is a direct result of the work and time you put into sharpening your skill. There are no shortcuts. It is hours and hours of practice daily and searching for tutorials/help online to understand a topic.

HyperionDev is the right platform for me as it outlines a great curriculum to follow in order to build up your skills and confidence, without losing significant amount of time in trying to decide what you should be focusing on learning (as there are SO MANY topics for future programmers to wrap their heads around).

Your ability to solve problems will depend on how well you are able to research the specific topic but also how long you are willing to sit with a problem. In addition to that, you have the help of your mentors at your disposition via Discord or email or call if you are really stuck (just make sure you book a call in advance and not near the day that your task should be submitted as some slots may be full).

I highly recommend beginners to form bonds with others within their cohorts and in the Discord channels or on campus if they have access, as this can be of great help in moving forward through the course. Coding can seem like an individual pursuit, however moving with others who share your struggle and motivate you along the way can really benefit you.

I do believe that it is helpful to have some basic computer literacy knowledge prior to starting the bootcamp. Very basic understanding of directories and simple folder manipulations. (all of which can be learned from Youtube in less than a day).

Other than that, I am very satisfied with my journey so far. To anyone, wishing to enroll in any bootcamp, make sure you buckle-up and give it your all. You will not be s****-fed, as this is no way to learn, you will struggle, you will spend hours and sometimes days trying to solve a problem... BUT the joy and exaltation you get when you notice your weekly/monthly progress is like none other!
