Ok... so its a year since I paid for a course through Hyperion Development. How I app**** is, I received an email with a promotion stating the a black friday discount and a "guaranteed pass and job guarantee after the co****". I do realise you need to actually do some work with regards to graduating but here's my story. Like I mentioned, I paid for a Software Engineer Bootcamp with Hyperion Development and it started off pretty well with my 1st few tasks going smoothly until I needed some help from my assigned mentor. My assigned mentor was named Daniel and as I ran into my first few challenges I contacted him and he assisted where possible. I couldn't help but notice he was unsure about certain things himself. At this stage I was almost complete with my first lot of tasks and had my two final tasks to complete with a 95% grade so far. I asked him to review some of my code that I had done and he actually made my program worse than my original coding. Covid 19 decided to rear its ugly head and as you know our country entered a nationwide lockdown and I needed to complete my course irrespective of the challenges. It was at this point I kept making appointments with my mentor but he just failed to show up at all the appointments made with him. I finally contacted Hyperion to which I was told my mentor is no longer with the company. No one got into contact with me or decided to reach out and assist or even check the progress after knowing my mentor was no longer present. I had been trying to make some sort of progress with my course but due to the fact it is now expired I cant do anything. I had tried to contact Hyperion numerous times during the lockdown through phone calls and emails but due to the lockdown there was no answer on both platforms. Finally after back and forth conversations and disagreements over months I had finally spoken to someone called Mishaun (please excuse my spelling). He was actually very helpful and understanding and said he would see what was possible. He got back to me saying that he really apologizes for my experience and said for an extra R12 000 I can complete my course. I said to him this is absolutely ridiculous and I'm not willing to pay an extra R12 000 because of my mentor leaving and a nationwide lockdown. Please be very careful when deciding to do online bootcamps even though there are promises of guaranteed passes and jobs after payment the service becomes non existent....literally
Best regards,
