Flawed mentorship and clueless mentors.

This is for students who are considering using HyperionDev to learn programming! Please, please do yourself a favour and go to another institution or use free resources like freecodecamp/youtube, etc (trust me you going to be on your own in any case throughout the bootcamp). They claim that they 100% with you and that your mentor has your back all the way but in reality the mentors themselves have no clue what they doing (but they supposedly have computer science degree’s). I started in Jan 2021 and being 3 months into the bootcamp I can confidently say this bootcamp is the biggest load of **** I have ever experienced in my life.

You get tasks you need to complete and honestly for some of the tasks the time frames are way way too short for someone doing it part time (generally a 2-3 day time frame for any task). Then when you get stuck which are you are bound to especially if you a beginner and you seek help from your mentor you are doomed. Since starting the bootcamp I have had 3 different mentors and all of them have no idea what they doing (clueless). My current mentor Max reviews my code and tells me my animation does not work and that the way I am writing my function to change a background colour upon page refresh is incorrect. Now all my solutions/help are found mostly from stackoverFlow where I might add (professional developers assist with solutions) and that is where i got my solution to my background change function, but according to Max it is incorrect and even if you search outside of stackoverFlow the same solution I use applies everywhere so how Max decided on my code is not correct only he knows. For my animation part of the code it actually works but according to Max it doesn’t so again I have no clue where they found this guy or what the hell he is actually doing but he is clearly lost. And might I add that this is the second incident in 3 months where I am told my code is not working but it is. When i reached out to Max to ask what the issue with my code is on discord he has still not rep**** up until today and this happened 2 weeks ago. After raising my concern Max has still not rep**** on discord to my problem i asked him.

Prior to Max becoming my new mentor I had a stand in mentor Nizaam another mentor that knows absolutely nothing. When reaching out to Nizaam to ask for assistance he could not even help me I had to use stackoverFlow for the solution (but I have a mentor *sigh*). When asked for a refund I am presented with HyperionDevs BS refund policy where they will only refund you in a timeline of 10 weeks from the time you start the bootcamp (which again makes no sense as a bootcamp is 6 months so the timeline of a refund should be at 12 weeks which is a 3 month mark). All in all you on your own if you join HyperionDev the mentorship is just a eye blind to catch people when in reality you will be googling, youtubing, stackoverflowing, using their disocrd where other students will help you instead of the mentors.

To add further, when you a book a call with a mentor and you need help with a problem guess what? You will not get help immediately because you have to book a session in advance so for example if i have a problem today and I book a session I will only get a session with my mentor after a few days and only at a time that suits their schedules (when they free) and not mine. Pretty flawed mentorship if you ask me. (And yet they so proud of their so called mentorship).I Must be living in a twilight zone if that’s considered fair for paying for mentorship.

Today I am left looking for another route to learning web development and I have wasted 3 months at a institution who does not deliver on what they claim.

Please whoever reads this and is looking for a bootcamp STAY FAR AWAY you will save yourself alot of time and frustration , also HyperionDev claims their bootcamps are for beginners but in reality again thats not true, if you start from 0 you will end up ripping your hair out, their bootcamps are for people who have a background in coding (look at some of the reviews here on hello peter and you will see what I speak of).

I made the biggest mistake of my life doing a bootcamp with them don’t do the same mistake I did. You can get far better content at a far cheaper price then what they charge for. In fact I am not sure why their pricing is so high as their content is just reading material (stitched together notes) theres barely any videos, as i said ( if you get a task you on your own).
