False Adverti*****t. Low Integrity. The most FRUSTRATING Course I have ever taken.
No one deserves going through the experience I have suffered with Hyperion Dev. I registered for the Software Engineering course in February 2019, and this has been the most disappointing programme I have ever spent money on in my whole Life. I cannot express in words the amount of frustration I have suffered this year because of Hyperion Dev. These past few months have been filled with the anxiety on whether I should de-register or not. What makes it so frustrating is that I paid a full lump sum of R17,000 for the full course when I registered in February 2019, and cancellation would mean having to deal with the hassle requesting a refund from an organisation that is non communicative. In cancelling I stand to lose all the progress I have made, making the past few months of this year a total waste of time. Despite the poor communication and service, the course work and content is very good; well organized, challenging, enjoyable and cements practical knowledge better than a lot of the other on-line boot camps and courses that I have done. However, the tutor support is extremely underwhelming. On their websites and in their adverti*****ts, they claim to provide "Expert on-demand and & feedback will get you writing efficient, error-free, code and keep you from getting stuck.", but this could not be any further than the truth in my experience. The code review that is meant to be given in reasonable time or "on demand"(in their own words), usually takes several days and in some cases can even take more than 2 weeks. Despite suffering the frustration of falling for false adverti*****t, most concerning is the fact that the Tutor has to review and sign Tasks as finished before you can move to the next phase. This means that the longer the Tutor takes to review, the longer it will take you to progress. In other words, your have limited control to your pace of progress. In May alone I had to go idle for weeks with no material because my Tutor took over 2 weeks to pass me to the next level. This is worrisome because the course support lasts for a limited time, 5 August 2019 in my case. As this date approaches, I am left to believe that I will be cut off, especially now that my chances of finishing are getting slimmer and slimmer each day thanks to my Tutors delays. That alone raises questions about the organization's INTEGRITY, such as, have they been dragging their feet because they got their money already and don't feel motivated to deliver their side of the deal? One cannot help but think that if I was on a monthly subscription they would be more motivated to make sure I am satisfied enough to pay for the next month.
I have expressed these issues several times, to the tutor as well as to Sobane, their head of student wellness, but the vast majority of my emails go unanswered and the tutor hasn't been taking my calls (calls with tutors are part of the service package). At this stage I am preparing myself to deal with being cancelled when the 5th of August arrives. I am now considering seeking legal council to aid me with a fair resolution. After paying R17,000.00 no one deserves going through the experience I have suffered with Hyperion Dev.
