Refusal to pay costs to fix the property

I bought an apartment in Midrand from Hyder Properties and on 17 Dec 2021 while my property was still in the process of being registered in my name, the kitchen door cylinder was faulty and I could not gain entry to the apartment.

I called the After sales office and I was told that Hyder Properties cannot assist so I need to get a Locksmith in my personal capacity, apparently no one could assist because Hyder Property was on a festive break.

In this emergency situation, I phoned a Locksmith and I incurred a cost of R830 to replace the lock cylinder in my kitchen door. I then sent an email to the Aftersales, to ask for my R830 to be refunded, I furnished proof that I paid the amount of R830.

Hyder Property came back from the Festive break on 10 January and I have been regularly following up on the issue, on 28 January 2022 I got feedback that my R830 cannot be refunded instead Hyder Property can give me a new door cylinder which works.

I don't need the new lock cylinder because I already bought a new cylinder.

I am not happy that my money is not being refunded because legally on 17 Dec 2022 Hyder Properties was the owner of the apartment and they should take care of the maintenance costs, especially in cases where items are broken not because of my negligence.
