Plastic shards in the milkshake
A couple of months ago I decided to treat daughter, who is vegan, to one of Hudson's pricey vegan milkshakes at their branch in Parkhurst. We ordered it to take away from one of the waitresses. We waited, and waited, and waited, enquiring regularly with said waitress. She, somewhat embarrassed, informed us that the bar often takes long. Eventually, after about 25 min, we pressed her again. She went to inquire, and came back to inform us that the bar didn't presently have any vegan ice cream!!! Today, we thought we'd try it again. Strawberry Candyfloss Vegan Mikshake for my daughter (R89) and a Vanilla Milkshake with a shot of espresso for me (R62) - pretty dear, but we thought it would be a treat. We took them home as take-aways. I have a pecu**** habit of chewing soft desserts like ice cream and also milkshakes. Well, lucky I do, because as I got near the bottom, I suddenly had hard bits in my mouth. Small shards of thickish clear plastic!!! I try to call Hudsons - no answer. Just like earlier, when we wanted to call ahead to pre-order. So, like I have nothing better to do on a Wed night, a drive back to Hudsons. I show the manager. He looks a bit incredulous at first, and then is completely out of his depth trying to figure out how to refund me. It literally takes 15min of him consulting with various people inside the restaurant, before he finally emerges with exactly R62 in cash, after I twice go inside to find out what is happening. No worries about the inconvenience, the bad experience, the waste of time and money having to drive back to Hudsons because no-one answers the phone, and then having to wait 15min for what should be a simple refund. The right thing to do would have been to refund my total bill as a token of good will. Needless to say, I don't think we'll be back.
