SHOCKING SERVICE FROM THE HUAWEI SERVICE CENTER IN MELROSE ARCH!!
65 km, 3 hours out of my day and blood pressure through the roof - that is what I got out of my interaction with Huawei's Customer Service Centre in Melrose Arch today. :( When I called the Huawei call centre to complain about my Band Pro3 that stopped working property (not measuring heart rate and distance correctly), I wish the consultant told me that they have no after sale service and that I should just throw it away and buy a new one. Instead he told me that the device was in warranty and they would resolve the problem free of charge. The device was collected from my house and I was without it of a week or so, after which a replacement model was delivered. I was so frustrated and disappointed when realising after my first gym visit, that my replacement had the exact same issues. When I called the call centre again to inform them and complained that I did not want to be without a device for yet another week, he explained to me that my only option was to go into one of the two service centres, where the device could be assessed and if faulty swapped out. I chose to go to Melrose Arch which is 33 km away and it took me 45 mins to get there, only to be told that my problem could not be resolved. Despite showing evidence that the device was malfunctioning, I was told that the technician has to assess it first and that it could not be done immediately. No effort was made by the staff, including the manager, to resolve my unhappiness. I was told that I could wait for 4 hours for my device to be assessed, or leave and come back (despite me explaining that I came all the way from Randburg and despite the fact that I was given incorrect information by the call centre!!) I was told that I could call the call centre and speak to them about the misunderstanding (not sure how that would help in any way?). The manager refused to give me his name and I left saying they could dispose of the device in the dustbin. Not only is the product inferior, the customer service is worse than non-existent - no service would definitely have been preferable!!
