Repair work by Huawei Technologies: New Battery Equals No Phone Calls. Motherboard Damaged.

Today (9 December 2022) I want to share my disappointment that I have with HUAWEI Authorized Service Center Pretoria in Menlyn Mall. On Black Friday I was at Huawei store and saw all the good specials and I took the special offers. Special was for screen and battery replacement. I even sat 3-4 hours in the que for the special. I handed in my Huawei phone on the same day for screen replacement to fix scratches on screen and to replace the battery to lengthen the lifecycle of the phone, as I truly like my phone. Received confirmation that my phone will be ready on Monday, 28 November 2022, which was great news as I will not be left without a phone for too long.

Monday turned into Tuesday; Tuesday turned into Thursday due to increased demand and material shortage. Tuesday, I lent a back-up phone as I started realising that this can take longer than expected. From the beginning apologies were made and promises were not met. On Thursday 1 December 2022 at 10am the phone was not ready. The solution that Huawei provided for the delay was to have the phone ready within 2hours. After 2hours received my cellphone and went home. I was happy.

Transferred my data back to my repaired cellphone device. The phone looked brand new; I was satisfied with the repair work. Funny things started happening I couldn’t make calls, but I could receive calls and when I answered a call no one could hear me. I thought because I transferred all my data perhaps it was GPRS settings that needed to be fixed by my network service provider. Network service provider logged a call for me. At the end they said the issue was not on their side...so off I go to Huawei store again.

Huawei said that it is no problem they will have a look at the phone on 8 December 2022. After a 3hour wait Huawei confirmed motherboard is damaged and it will cost around R1000 and up to fix it.

I handed in a perfectly working phone to replace screen and battery to give my cellphone an extra lifespan. Now I have a phone that can’t do the basic things about why a phone is one’s possession, making calls. Now there is nothing to like about my phone although it looks brand new. The pressure was perhaps too much for Huawei repair team, that they damaged my cellphone’s motherboard while putting in a new battery.
