Pathetic excuse for warranty

So i bought a Huawei band 2 watch last year. 9 months later the accelerometer stopped working and i sent it in for repair. The answer i received from Mustek their servicing agents was the following warranty void do to damaged strap Please explain how a damaged strap can undermine the electronics of the watch. That is the most pathetic excuse to get out of a repair i have ever heard of.
