Huawei warranty counts for nothing

Are you contemplating buying a Huawei phone? Then check the fine print. I bought a Huawei P20 Lite phone a couple of months ago under the impression that I have a 1 year warranty on the phone. The mini-jack has become faulty and I today found out that the warranty on this model only covers things like software updates and that all repairs on this phone, even during the warranty period, must be paid by the customer! I was quoted almost R500.00 to have the earphone jack repaired by an authorised Huawei repair centre. A total rip-off.

Their lack of response to the complaints on hellopeter should have alerted me to the way they conduct their business in South Africa.

Be warned.
