Huawei not fulfilling warranty

I took a Huawei HG659 router into Huawei (Canal Walk service centre) under warranty (8 months use) to repair/replace this faulty device. After 3 weeks of it being with them - they are unwilling to repair or replace it, stating that it is not a local product and has no international warranty.

I bought this from a local online retailer firstshop.co.za – who is advising me to repair it through the same channels (Mustek -> Huawei canal walk).

Even if this is an international device Huawei should still honour a repair on their own faulty product. This is the first time I’ve been a Huawei client – perhaps the last, if they don’t come to the table to assist.
