Huawei No After Sales
Be aware of the following before investing in a Huawei Device.
If you take your device into one of their service centres for repair, they will not repair the device until you pay the full price of the repair up front. This does not even guarantee that the device will actually be repaired however.
My device was taken into the Melrose Arch Service Centre, after a month of waiting I called their customer service and was informed that they are awaiting payment for the repair of the phone as it was out of warranty (even though the phone is only 3 months old). All of the above, without a single communication from Huawei.
Today I received a call, again asking me to make payment, in fact, if the number was not confirmed by Truecaller as Huawei, I would presume its a ****.
I informed them that I am quite happy to pay the full amount upon collection of my device. I have had no guarantee of timelines, and they had already delayed the repair process for a month. I also don't see any reason to hand over my money until I have been assured of an actual repair taking place. Apparently, this is not how Huawei works. If they do not get the money upfront they will not repair the phone (a fact they keep hidden accross all their platforms, and one that is never communicated by the service centre either).
They will also subvert the Warranty at their own whim, and to be honest, I don't even feel like arguing that point with them either, I actually just want my phone repaired. Its the LCD screen btw, its not cracked or anything, its has just started showing hazy lines and becoming unreadable almost as if the internal display connector has become faulty.
So to summarize, if you invest in this make of device do not expect fast turnaround times, so far I am a month and a half beyond the date I took it into the service centre.
Expect for them to subvert the Warranty statement and claim that it is user fault, although in my mind I know full well its a device issue.
Expect no communication from the service centre until you pressure them for timelines, and when you do, expect them to use the excuse that you need to pay first and collect later. This is never communicated at any time, whether on the service documentation, or their website, or at the service centre itself when you first hand the device over.
Currently they are in possession of my device, with no resolution in sight as they refuse to enact the repairs, and at the end of the day, I will probably take a broken device back from them, as I refuse to hand over money before I have been provided with a proper service. Just be aware of this when considering any of the Huawei products.
The value offering is rendered worthless by the after sales service.
