Huawei Customer Care

Because my son required a good laptop for his Computer Science course, we decided to get him a Huawei with a Ryzen processor. Two months ago, he cracked the screen. I took it to the service centre in Melrose Centre. They replaced the screen. However, on returning home, I noticed that the new screen was loose. I took it back the next day. I was told that the bracket that holds the screen in place needed replacing. They didn't have one in stock, but promised to order one. A week later I received a call informing me that the spare part had arrived and that I should return the laptop for it to be fitted. I only managed to do so a few days later. When I got to the store, they were closed due to COVID exposure. This morning I again returned there to have the screen attached properly. I was told that they did not have the part anymore and that I would have to sign the laptop in for repairs. I was informed that it could take up to two weeks for the spare part to arrive. I explained that the laptop was still usable and that my son was in the middle of online exams. He could not be without access to the device for two weeks. I was then informed that, if I did not leave the laptop there they would not order the part and the device would not be repaired. This is a classic case of a company creating systems to suit itself at the expense of the customer. My son is now using a hugely expensive device that is 4 months with a screen attached to the shell by duct tape. Most disappointing.
