****************!! False Repair Claims by Service Centre

Huawei has instantly lost a customer and I while make sure everyone who ever asks knows not to buy a Huawei Device. 2 weeks ago my Huawei P20 Lite which was purchased cash and not on contract fell from about waist height. Initially the problem was not obvious other than a small crack on the back cover by the charging port. Initially the device worked but when reaching 42% battery life that figure remained unchanged, even when plugged in. Eventually it turned off and wouldn't startup unless the power cable was plugged in. It was still useable but only when plugged in. So I took the device to Huawei Melrose Arch, they were very busy but took my device and I received an email the following day that it was repaired and ready even though I hadn't received a quote yet. I contacted them and they told me it would cost R4800 to repair. Claiming the front screen, back cover, battery and entire mother board would need to be replaced. Considering the device only cost R6000 it is entirely unacceptable to have to pay 85% of the value for a repair. HUAWEI melrose arch wouldn't deal with my complaints and refusal to accept the quote and referred me to the call centre. After an hour on the phone I was told that the charging port was damaged but they cant just replace the charging port. They have to replace everything. That is bull**** and frankly, ****************!!! I refuse to pay for a device I did not agree to have basically replaced. I can buy a brand new phone for that much money. Huawei wont take responsibility for repairs and they are *******. Shocking!!!
