Band 7 straps are useless

I bought a Huawei Band 7. After 10 weeks one of the straps came apart. I was informed by the customer support centre that I would have to buy new straps because they weren't covered by the warranty. The straps are an essential component of the device but I told them that I was not going to throw good money after bad by regularly replacing poorly designed and manufactured straps - there is no inherent strength between the plastic strap and the metal clasp that clips into the device.
