"Bad service" is a understatement. My mind was blown!
Huawei makes Telkom's service seem top notch. My Huawei device(Mate 8) had sustained water damage and I needed it repaired, I was told that the closest Huawei outlet was in Canal walk. So I made my way there from Cape Gate to book the phone for repairs, so I was helped by Shanice Solomons. The phone was still under warranty as far as I knew, she said that they would verify this via the phone serial/IMEI all good and well. She booked the phone, took my cell no. my email I even gave my ID, full name as well as a relative's phone no. as to extra sure and she told me that the turnaround time for repairs range from 1 week to 3 weeks at max and that she would communicate state of affairs on phone. All is good, 1 week passed, second week passed without any communication whatsoever. Already not living up to promises, I proceeded to email Shanice on the email address she gave me without any response I then phoned the Canal walk Huawei branch landline no. which simply goes to a voice telling you that the line is out of service(this would set the tone of things for the months to come, yes months). I then sent email after email tried phoning hoping the landline had been repaired at by then thinking huawei is a reputable international company. I lodged 5, Yes 5 official queries with reference numbers with their customer care centers trying to establish what is happening with the phone, why has there not been any communication to whatsoever, why are their landlines working. 2 days before it had been 3 weeks I've about had enough after being told all if not most of Huawei's service center's landlines aren't working and "escalating" the matter with Huawei's consumer line achieves absolutely nothing I asked if there is any superior I can speak to or someone beside someone who is trained to say 5 things given any situation, I was simply told no, no NO!(after 2 weeks of continually "escalating" the matter, whatever the hell that means) There's apparently no one and they will resolve everything by escalating the matter. Exactly 3 weeks(max repair turnaround time)from booking the phone I receive a email from Shanice, a quote from CDTI in Johannesburg for near as makes no difference R7400. Now bare in mind how confused/livid I am at this point. There had been no communication for 3 weeks after what I was promised, I'm under the impression that the warranty covers the repairs now I receive a quote for basically a new phone. The Saturday Shanice phones my from a random cell no. and tells me oh no she's very sorry she had finally been informed that I queried what the hell is happening and why am I being quoted, she explained that her laptop at work is not working and that the landline had been in non working state for months. At this point I'm thinking, you are working for a international mobile device company and you can't access your email from your phone have a dedicated phone for the store?! I'm guessing they simply don't care much for customer service and only there from 9-4/5 doing whatever it is you do in a store with no email or landline. She then explains that if want to communicate I need to use the number she's currently phoning from and mail to Tarryn Burger. Now if she knew her laptop does not work and she can't otherwise access her work email why not give me the alternative mail from the start or the alternative no. for the store if that had been the state of the landline?! After a month and a half between me Huawei Shanice and CDTI I established the phone will not be repaire. CDTI that is another story on it's own company you chose to do service and repairs to customer devices, besides trying to charge me for a whole new phone, went ahead and helped themselves to most likely salvageable parts on my device and simply botched it together to slightly resemble a mate 8. I know this as after rotting in their center for 2 months I took it to a reputable local cellular repair outlet and the helpful man assessed the phone and repaired it for R1900 and upon collection asked me who had previously handled the phone as "I don't like the way they do things, they have taken parts from the phone or had simply not put them back". Among important things I understood, the 4100mah battery. this complaint will most likely get me nowhere as I've established that Huawei has no regard for customers or service to them or any regard for after sale service whatsoever. When I bought my Mate 8 I was so impressed with the phone, honestly I was the biggest activist for the phone even until recently, I have literally converted all friends and family members to buy your devices and because of the nature of the work I do come into contact with alot of people and always praised the Huawei devices. Know this I'm 25 I will still buy many phones in my lifetime(most likely 2 every year) same goes for my friends and Family. My next mobile device will be a Huawei, I will make sure all of my friends who currently have your devices as well as the people I know from work will not be buying one of your devices again in their lifetime by simply telling them my experience with your service. This right here is why Huawei will is and always will be a 3rd ranked mobile device company and will remain that way.
