Airfare Booking Prices

I recently booked an air ticket for my wife from Johannesburg to East London. The price quoted was just over R1000 return. We booked the flights online and selected the payment process. The quoted price was confirmed, but during the payment process the price increased to R1234.62 - and then we were presented with the following ADDITIONAL costs:

R224.18 for paying via credit card. R246.11 for"Reprice Fare Difference" because "flight prices are volatile"!

We were asked if we had luggage, because that would be extra. Then we were asked if we wanted a 'Check-in Reminder" at a cost of R149.45. We declined all further "options" as the ticket price had by now increased to R1611.49.

Firstly, with any normal business, the price quoted is the price you pay. If any extra charges are levied, they should be listed PRIOR to payment so that the customer knows EXACTLY what he is going to pay when he decides to book the flights.

Secondly, as pensioners we accepted the fare based on the advertised price. We cannot afford the ********* business practices employed by this service. I don't care whether "this is the way it's done", it is immoral and potential customers need to be made aware that they may be conned into paying almost double the advertised prices by this industry.
