I approached Mr Hannes Kruger from HT Security on Whatsapp with an issue I had on my cctv cameras. In his response to me he advised he could come have a look the following morning. I advised him that I can be at home just after 8am. The following morning I received a call from him at 7 asking is he cannot come already as he is dropping his child at school(2km from my address). I advised him that I will only be there closer to 8 as communicated the night before. Mr Kruger advised me he will hang around in the area, not wanting to go back to his house(8km from my place) Mr Kruger arrived and immediately identified the issue as being the power supply that needed replacement due to power surge. He then replaced the power supply, all in the space of 10 minutes. I asked Mr Kruger to send me the details for payment. He sent me a message on Whatsapp, no invoice or anything just bank details and acc number. Unprofessional. I then asked Mr Kruger to send me an invoice and a breakdown of work done as the amount he charged was way out. His charge for the work done was R1210. On receiving the invoice the cost was broken down as follows: Repairs done on lightning damages CCTV system, replace 6amp power supply & including labour = R760 + Travelling of R450 Totaling to R1210. A couple of days passed before I decided to make payment and approached Mr Kruger over a phone call. I proceeded and said that I wanted to discuss the cost breakdown and feel it was not justified. As soon as I said this Mr Kruger raised his voice and did not want me to continue. In response I raised my voice as he did not want me to talk and I said let me finish then he can talk. He seemed very upset and could not understand the reason for my approach was because of him attacking before I could finish. I asked him about the travel fee specifically as R450 seemed excessive to me, given the fact that he was already in the area and also did not once communicate to me that there will be a travel fee. Keep in mind I dealt with Mr Kruger before on installations and there was no no travelling fee charged then. After a very heated debate I told Mr Kruger that his charges are "f@(&%$ ridiculous He then immediately told me to F$%# Off). Yes, I did swear in the conversations and referred to his charges, what I did not do is curse him. When dealing with Mr Kruger, make very sure you know about all his hidden costs which he does not inform you off before hand. This is not about the money. No matter if it is R5 or R5000. It needs to be justified. The power supply itself is full of scratches and seems second hand. When I approached him his answer was he drives with these supplies on the back of his bakkie in the boxes and they take beating. Absolute nonsense as the boxes they should be in will protect them from it. Cost of such power supply if I had to buy it is R299. Cost I payed including labor and travel fee R1210. Not bad for a 10 minute job.
