The HPCSA is heartless

I am feeling quite disappointed today with the lack of compassion, service and understanding from the HPCSA. On 1 December 2021 my HPCSA registration got suspended due to non-payment. This was due to myself having lost my job in August of 2019 due to covid 19. I struggled to get employment and would get very temporary locum jobs from time to time which was not even enough to sustain myself. Then on 1 December 2021 I received an email from HPCSA to state my registration was suspended and therefore I need to pay a penalty of R4340 in addition to the R2170 registration fee giving a total of R6570!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous. The HPCSA did not hesitate to increase HPCSA fees in the midst of Covid-19 and is charging me 3 times the registration amount to be able to practice again. I had to loan this amount because I got a job offer. And now almost 2 weeks after paying my fee, they still havent restored my registration which has caused me to lose a job offer.

I cannot exclaim enough how heartless and lack of care the HPCSA have for its members.
