Howler supports GBV!

I’m so disappointed by the refund process! I’ve been a huge howler supporter for years, and never have I had such a horrible experience! I bought tickets for an event and also took refund insurance, I unfortunately couldn’t go due to an ex partner who was stalking and threatening me. I shared my case number confirmation sms from the SAPS with the refund team and they tell me. It’s not enough evidence. All the members who were responding, sent the same email (copy and paste) and would not answer my questions. One even asked for my confirmation email to prove that I bought a ticket and claimed the fees aren’t visible. I can’t believe in this GBV climate such a reason is “invalid” to receive a refund. I also don’t understand why I have to go through such if I paid refund insurance. Maybe if I was a white person who had an ill pet, I’d get my refund! Being Black and female only matters when we consume products!

Hi Mpho,

We’re so sorry to hear about this awful experience. Howler stands FIRMLY against gender-based violence. We are appalled to hear about this situation and the way others have treated it and are truly sorry that we’re associated with a provider who doesn’t share the same sentiment and core values.

Unfortunately, The Refundable Ticket Service is a third-party service provider and is not part of Howler. This means that any updates or issues relating to your refund application will be dealt with by https://www.refundable.me/. Please contact their Refund team to appeal your case or create a new one.

We’ll be looking into this third-party provider and our alternative options. We’re really sorry for your experience here and would like to make it clear that we do not condone violence of any sort.

If you could let us know which ticket you'd like refunded, we'd also be happy to look further into this situation with the organisers.

We’re really sorry for the inconvenience and response from our support team. We’ve taken extreme yet appropriate measures internally to prevent such issues going forward by hiring an extra manager, a communications specialist and restructuring our existing support system.
