Lounge suite has tear in material

Good day i bought a corner suite last year at house and home somerset west and within 8 months the material on the leather suite split i reported the problem on the 29th of august and now they have told my wife they want us to pay R1300 to fix it.i find it unacceptable .i would think that in having it for such a short time that there should be some warranty covering that.we acted in good faith by being a loyal customer for 20 years.
