House & Home

Dear Hellopeter,

In December 2016 I entered in a Lay-by agrement with House & Home at Arbor Crossing Branch in Durban.

I purchased a 5 piece dinette, The value was R7000 of which I paid a R1000.00 deposit (11/12/2016) and a further R3000.00 (23/12/2016) and the Full and Final Settlement of R2999.00 (29/01/2017). Upon paying the settlement amount, I was informed that I couldn't take delivery because they do not have stock. I was told that the salesman was off for that day, and I sould call the following day. I called the following day only to be told THEN, that the product I purchased was a discontinued range. However the salesman promised to source one from one of the other branches, a week passed and I was called and informed that the one he sourced came in damanged and was returned. Getting highly frustrated, I tried to get hold of the regional manager, but to no avail. I finally got hold of a sagren (very helpful tho) and he advised that he found one at their JHB store and that the truck was already loaded for day to Durban, and that it will be sent the following day and I should expect deliver by 12 Feb 2017.

On the morning of 7 Feb 2017, I got a call from The Arbor Crossing store to advise that they don't have one. I called Sagren and enquired, only to be told, yes they don't have one.

My Dilemma doesnt stop her, I suggested to accept the Demo model at a discount rate only to be to They cannot discount it.
As a last resort, I requested my refund, I was told that I will have to wait for them to have the required cash in their till for me to have my refund.

If I wanted an EFT, i have to wait a further 7 working days.

I tried calling head office ********** 000, absolutely no answer.

House & Home used to be a premium store when i was growing up, but unfortunatley, their standards have detoriated so far down, that I will never shop there ever again, and I certainly encourage family and friends not to either.
