House and Home giving me the run around
I am utterly disappointed with the service we have received from House and Home Greenacres and Baywest in Port Elizabeth. We bought a 7 piece Sterling diningroom suite costing R11999.00 from House and Home (Greenacres) sometime in Dec. It was delivered to our house from House and Home (Baywest) on the 18th of Dec. When it was delivered it was covered in a big sack for protection and to keep it in mint condition. On the 22nd we decided to uncover the suite because we were preparing for my birthday lunch and Christmas. We noticed a crack on the side of the table. We took pictures and showed it to the workers at House and Home Baywest. They told us to go to the Greenacres branch. When we got there the person in charge was not available (Cassim is his name) and instead we were given his cellphone number and told to WhatsApp him the photos of the cracked table. We did that and he did not reply. However he called and assured us that he would personally take care of the issue. They tried to exchange the dining room suite for another one but it didn’t match our decor so we declined.
At some point we were even accused of cracking the table ourselves by one of the Baywest employees. If we cracked the table there would be no need to go through all this drama knowing that it was our fault.
In the new year we sent Cassim a message and tried to see him at the Greenacres branch but we were unsuccessful. To cut a very long story short, it’s been over a month and this table is still at our house and there has been no talks of a refund or any type of resolution from them. I suspect they are drawing this out because they want to purchase a new one from their manufacturer and then replace ours.
Can someone advice us on what to do next?
