Refund

I have made a booking online for stay at Waterfront lodge paid deposit as expected. But later I got a call from the hotel saying that 'Your booking has been cancelled - confirmation no: ***, Waterfront Country Lodge :claiming that there's a mail saying money was debited without my consent, Really? I do booking online all the time but clearly choosing Hotels.com was a mistake. I sent several emails regarding my deposit refund but it's like I'm talking to myself. I demand my money back as it was a free cancellation. I don't want to rebook anyways.
