Request for refund from Hotel Diplomat

They mislead me on a room and breakfast when i decided to choose them based on pictures posted on their website. The room was so small that i thought if i sleep one night i am going to suffocate and die before next morning. I booked for a small room with 2 single beds. I did not anticipate small to be a size of my two arms when not fully stretched. i literally could touch both walls with my arms which were not fully opened. i searched for a toilet and shower to find them in a ridiculously small cupboard which i personally could not fit to shower. I raised this with staff member "Diego" who was on duty at the time and asked him to change my room but he said there was no other room as they were full. i asked him to check if someone leaves in the morning however there was still no other room. I was forced to cancel my booking based on that and what i saw on what they served as breakfast. i was really really disappointed by them. I would like HelloPeter to help me get my refund because i was compelled to cancel due to their offer not really meeting any humane standard. They are sending me from pillar to post, they firstly told me they dont understand why their system does not want to cancel the money on hold for that booking as i was requesting cancellation before the booking date commenced as the day i discovered the horrible condition of the room was on a separate booking. secondly they wanted me to have a Brazilian Bank account which i could not have as a tourist form another country, thirdly i was told the manager was not at the premises. i tried seeking the help of Booking.Com as i made this booking through them but the only answer i got was that i should contact the property, which i did several times by actually going there physically. I would like to state categorically that i did not have an alternative accommodation which is why i guaranteed that i will take up the room, however the hotel is not supposed to mislead clients by putting nice pictures which do not reflect the actual things they have because those pictures made me take their hotel and not many others which were there on the system. I will really appreciate if i can be helped to get my refund as i was forced to cancel because of their misinformation. Thanks in advance.
