We booked The Tygervalley Escape expecting a comfortable and enjoyable getaway, especially given how beautiful and spacious the property is. Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing and far from what was promised. From Monday until Wednesday, there was no electricity at the property, which caused major disruption. This was never adequately communicated beforehand. As a result, we were forced to spend significant time out of the premises, including driving home just to be able to work when our laptop batteries ran out. We also had to sit in our car on multiple occasions just to charge our phones, and we incurred additional costs purchasing mobile data because there was no WiFi without electricity. The lack of power also meant the refrigerator was unusable. We had to go to the mall several times just to buy ice, and fresh food was impossible to keep. We even had to throw away items like watermelon, which we could not store properly. This added unnecessary expense and inconvenience to what was supposed to be a restful stay. It was also clear that no one inspected the property before our arrival. There was a noticeable ant infestation, mainly downstairs, and we had to kill ants ourselves on the first day. Although the issue improved after that, it should never have been left for guests to resolve.

I booked this place through airbnb. The place they put me in is completely unsafe. They described it as an apartment but its a shop in a shopping centre converted to a room. I'm a female travelling alone and I feel vulnerable to all sorts of dangers. Anyone can see through my windows from the passage when they walk pass. Airbnb has been trying to get hold of the company since I checked in. I have requested that you give me alternative accommodation as the refund will take 7 to 10 days to reflect. They refused to respond to them. I could not sleep last night as people can see through the windows when they walk passed. This is not what you put in your listing description. They refused to sort out my issue because I'm a black person. This company is ****** and *******

host agent operate *********ly and engage in fradulant practices. They deducted R868 from my deposit without my consent, claiming supposed “damages” for a dirty towel and bedsheet. When I asked for proof, such as cleaning or replacement records, none was provided yet the deduction was still made. They will do anything to ***** your money together with Ellipse Waterfall 31001 Johannesburg

The marketing for this venue (Odeon Towers) was not what you got at all…..! There is ongoing, as in 24/7 generators going, pumping sea water out as a result from higher water/tides from climate change. Thus, a wall/barrier is being built to assist with that challenge. As a result, instead of walking over the road to the beach as advertised, there was no way to do so. I have photos and video to provide as proof No communication was made ahead of the time that there were ‘sea works’ going on with the accompanying road works. Instead, our payment was non refundable. We found out why the minute we got there. In ‘thanking us for our understanding’, we were ‘gifted’ a bottle of red wine and nougat. We don’t drink any alcohol…..! Also, why would anyone presume to think that a cheap bottle of wine and nougat would make up for the discomfort, the noise, the fact that you can’t open your windows, all due to the generator running 24/7…..? None of the fans nor the airconditioner (portable) worked. So it was noisy and hot. And then there was the awful odour of raw sewage that came into the rooms every time you flushed the toilet and the very damp/mouldy air in the rooms whenever the other (2nd bathroom) was used and vice versa. We were even contacted by the hosting agent advising that we must stop smoking as it carried a penalty of R1500 per incident. Thing is, we don’t smoke and I rep**** as much to the hosting agent. Thereafter there was a strange man hanging out on the 11th floor which was probably the janitor. He would stare at you when you went out or came back and he hung out around our room, pretending to wash the windows, sweeping the floor and just hanging out around the elevators.
