Empty promises

I make a monthly donation to Highway Hospice of R150, 2 weeks ago I recieved a phone call from them informing me that I won R1000 in the draw, I was so glad because I realy need the money, I was then told that they will send me a email to confirm how I want to recieve that money and sadly I have not recieved anything as yet. Now I ask you this draw that they have is it a ploy just to get you to do a donation or what? At this moment I feel like canceling my monthly donation
