R120k contributions annually, but Hosmed refuses to pay dr R1000

<p>We had our daughters prominent ears fixed privately as its seen as cosmetic surgery. When the anaethetist came for pre-op observations, she said the mole in my daugters neck is very big and should be removed to avoid future problems. The surgeon said if there was time he would remove the mole for us, which he did.</p> <p> </p> <p>The next day I phoned the medical aid to inform them of the procedure, and the lady told me Authorization can not be obtained after the procedure was done. i explained to her that it was not a planned procedure and the dr felt it would be better to remove the mole while she is under anaestetic which I paid from my own pocket. Hosmed was only required to pay the surgeon for the little procedure. The lady then informed me that they would need the dimensions and a photo of the mole. Once again the mole was already removed the orevious day!!! Strangely enough I had a mole removed from my leg in my GP's surgery the previous month which Hosmed paid in full without seeing a photo or dimensions of it!!! I feel unhappy that we pay almost R120k for a medical aid, but Hosmed refuses to pay approximately R1000 for a dr during a procedure that was not planned! Totally unacceptable.</p>
