Chronic patient struggling to obtain pre authorisation with Hosmed: ***

<p>Good day,</p> <p>I am a member of Hosmed medical aid for the last 15 plus minus years being a chronic patient with renal failure for the last 3 years. During the 3 years of being diagnosed with renal failure i have receiving dialysis treatment as well as being placed on the cadarver waiting list for a kidney transplant. One of the requirements was that the medical aid to pre authorise the kidney transplant and updated on an annual basis.</p> <p>However close to the end of the year 2015 the kidney coordinator stationed at Christiaan Barnard Hospital discovered that the preauthorisation had expired and needed to be updated. She merrily contacted my medical aid with all necessary documents to update the preauthorisaion for a kindey transplant to no avail!! She informed me 5 months later that my medical aid did not hav the coutesy nor decency to contact her office to inform her of their intentions.</p> <p>This is really pathetic as i contacted them myself providing all the necessary documents for them to update their records only to be given empty promises of getting back to me!! </p> <p>I shudder to think that Hosmed is heartless and rather prefer me to die than to support and treat my request and condition with sympathy and urgency!!!</p> <p> </p> <p>From very disappointed dying patient Med No. ********** 9</p>
