Dentist appointment gone bad

I had an appointment at 11am (Wednesday 3 April 2024) with Dr E Sylvester Practice number :*** in Montague drive. I was hoping to have a root canal but as the dr was discussing the options, he helped me understand that an extraction would be best. But due to him repeating the same information over and over again as if I had dimentia, there was no more time to actually do the extraction as he had another patient waiting. I went to the receptionist to book the extraction for later that day. I came in again at 3pm Wednesday for the extraction. He asked if I had ever had a difficult extraction which I said No as all my extractions were always quick ( Under 5 minutes max). Well I was about to experience my first difficult extraction. He was struggling to get my tooth out and complained about his hand hurting and how he needed a break, the tool was cutting the side of my lip and he said he could not help it due to the fact that he needed to get to the back of my mouth which meant the tool was slicing the corner of my lip. I asked if he could give me numbing cream so that i didn't feel the cutting of my lip and he asked his helper to put vaseline on it. I tried not to focus on the grazing of my lip back and forth. He stopped about 4/5 times and walked around complaining about how he always gets the patients with difficult extractions, he told his assistant how he doesn't get paid enough to deal with difficult extractions, and how he should have finished his studies to become an engineer instead as he would have been paid more for his time. Him saying this to his assistant whilst I am laying there with my mouth open, numbed and literally in a vulnerable state listening to a dentist say he doesn't want to be a dentist and he isn't even done with my tooth at this point. I am utterly shocked at your unprofessional-ism, your manner in how you speak to your patients and over them like they aren't there hearing every nasty thing you say and quite frankly you should not be a dentist as you are not cut out to be a peoples person. Even if you were too be an engineer, you would still need to learn to be respectful. I cannot believe how you treated me and I really hope you haven't done this to other patients because your behavior was way out of line. I will never recommend anyone to your business even if you were the last dental office open in Cape town.
